Frequently asked questions

A few quick notes to help you read the data. If something still looks unclear, use the Contact link to reach out.

  • ChartInspector helps you explore what markets did in the past. We use daily close prices and show simple statistics (how often something happened, streaks, gaps, and a combined score) so you can learn from history and compare symbols.

  • ChartInspector saves time by summarizing past market behavior so you don't need to crunch spreadsheets. Use it to check how often things happened before, to test ideas, or to learn patterns. It is a research tool, not trading advice.

  • No. The site uses the previous trading day's close. We show statistics based on those closes. ChartInspector does not stream live prices or intraday ticks.

  • The Historical Odds Viewer looks back at similar past situations for the symbol and time window you pick. It reports how often an outcome (for example, "closed up next day") happened before. It shows history, not a prediction.

  • Percentages are simple frequencies. If you see 65% for "closed green", that means 65 out of 100 matching past cases closed green in the chosen window. The denominator is the number of matching examples we found in that calendar window.

  • The score combines several simple statistics (win rates, streaks, gap behaviour, and other measures) into one number to help you sort and compare items. It is a convenience metric for research, not a buy/sell recommendation.

  • A gap is when the market opens above (gap up) or below (gap down) the previous close. The "min gap" filter lets you focus on openings larger than a percentage threshold (for example, gaps ≥ 1%). This helps you study behaviour after significant opens only.

  • A streak is a run of consecutive days closing in the same direction (all up or all down). The Streak widget shows how often different streak lengths happened and what tended to happen next.

  • Weekdays are shown in New York time (ET) to match US market sessions. Dates are taken from the candles and windows are mapped to the nearest trading session after the calendar start date.

  • Yes! This is just the beginning. We plan to add more views, deeper data filters, and optional alerts. If you'd like to hear about new features, register your email on the site and we'll notify you when we release updates.

  • ChartInspector is currently in active testing (Beta). Data should be accurate, but you may notice incomplete entries, slight calculation differences, or occasional UI quirks while we continue improving the pipeline. If something seems wrong, please send a short note and screenshot to ask@chartinspector.com so we can take a look at it. Your feedback helps us improve the site and data quality.
